How Google Reader can help you find a better job.

Google reader screen shot
We all love Craigslist. We all love the Craigslist job board. But, a problem I’ve been having is that it’s so popular, it’s hard to keep track and find what you’re looking for.

The first solution I found was this: Instead of searching by category (In my case Media) I started searching by keyword (In my case InDesign.) This has gotten me lots more leads, because sometimes people will put I job I am qualified for under a different category than art/media.

Then there is the second, and coolest solution I found: Google Reader! For those who may not know, everything on CL is also output as an rss feed. What is even better is that when you do a search, that can be output as it’s own rss feed. So what can you do with that? You can put it into Google reader. This gives you several benefits:

  • You can keep track of what you’ve read, what you haven’t, and what is new.
  • You can read all your listings much quicker, especially when you hit the “next item” button
  • Just take my word for it and try it!!!

“Monster Garage” star Jesse James buys “Garage Magazine”, starts “Gold” clothing line

September 25th, 2006

I picked up a “Garage” magazine at Billetproof last week, a magazine that I’m a fan of but haven’t seen many issues of. I was surprised when I saw on the mast-head that the publisher’s name was “Jesse James.” I though, “It can’t be THE Jesse James.” At the bottom the logo, “Pay Up, Suckers! publications,” just brough on more curiousity.

When I finally read the editorial, it told me all I need to know. Jesse James has indead bought the magazine, now on it’s 10th issue. And according to the editor (who goes by STONER) he did so in a very Jesse James way:

Jesse James…asked me if I was interested in selling my baby. I said, “Well, im interested in finding an investor.” To that he replied, “Fuck that! How much?”

Upon further investigation, I notice that the opening 2-page ad is actually for the Tattooed Money Machine’s own new clothing line, “West Coast GOLD,” a step up from the stuff he sells at Wal-Mart and Mervyn’s. According to the ad this stuff is being sold at Neiman Marcus, M. Fredric, and Girl Boy Girl. Hey, you can’t blame the guys for some cross promotion.

Brian Bowen Smith
We all know this guy has made tons of cash from the “Discovery Channel,” and his toy and clothing deals from Walmart, (and you’d think he’d want to spend any free time with his new wife Sandy Bullock) so what’s his deal. Does he want to be the new “King of all Media”? From the sound of the editorial, he just REALLY likes the magazine, understands what it’s about, and wants to give it the cash it needs to become a house-hold name. Well, at least in every HOt-rodder’s house.

Zoonami - The Making of GoldenEye 007

This is a really interesting article on the making of GoldenEye of N64. Back in highschool I though me and my buddies were the only ones who played this for hours. Turns out, it’s the best selling N64 game ever!
